“I give speeches to promote The Bevy Pub. I have even been on ‘The One Show’ and Sky. The Bevy has brought the community together. Before I didn’t feel safe like I do now. The younger ones will open the door
for the older ones and they don’t do that everywhere.”

I’ve been to the BBC One Show and been on Sky trying to promote the pub. I give speeches, because I’m partially blind and deaf I just give speeches, promoting the pub, because it’s a friendly pub. Because it’s a safe environment here you have younger people and the older generations that mix together.

The younger ones will open the door for the older ones and they don’t do that everywhere. You feel that you’re not just in an old people’s situation, it’s brought the community together. Before The Bevy, I didn’t feel safe like I do now. Some of the youngsters that have cars will give me a lift home. It’s not just the people here, it’s the helpers, the staff, community workers who do not get paid, they just do it for the people. My advice to young people, keep opening doors for the older generation.
